Representative school sport process - Throughout the year eligible students may be selected for representative sport at the following levels:

School      - Kurwongbah
District     - Pine Rivers
Regional   - Metropolitan North
State         - Queensland
Age            -The majority of sports have age divisions of 10/ 11/ 12 years.
Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming Carnivals:
Our school schedules carnivals for each of these Big 3 sports each year. They are also selection trials for students to attend district trials. Our carnivals are whole school and we make them as inclusive as possible. For athletics carnival students participate in a Pentathlon format where they are able to accumulate points for different track and field events. We also include non-championship events with an emphasis on participation and effort. Swimming and Cross Country carnivals also have a fun/ participation component. We also acknowledge age champions with medallions for points accrued at events in each age group.
Other sport - Students may be eligible for representation in a variety of other sports such as Rugby League, Basketball, Netball, AFL, Hockey, Football (Soccer), Touch Football, Tennis, Cricket, Rugby Union and Golf. All of these sports are for age groups 10-12 years (i.e the age they are turning in the current year), and most offer separate boys and girls team. Rugby League conduct selection trials for 10, 11 and 12 year olds. Student younger than 12 are eligible to trials, however they would need to have a very high level of skill and experience playing these sports. School trials for each sport will be advertised on parade and in general notices. Each school is limited in the number of students that can be sent, therefore a school selection trial is usually required and students must be proficient and experienced at the sport.

Sporting Schools Activities -Throughout the year our school obtains funding from the Federal Government Sporting Schools Program to enable qualified coaches to come into the school to run coaching clinics/activities. These are held either before school or at lunch times and are free of charge and are aimed to improve student’s skills, fitness and general wellbeing. There are a variety of sports available. In the past we have included sessions for Football, Gymnastics, Netball, Hockey, AFL, Cricket, Athletics and Softball.
Gala Days – These are held in term 2 and 3 and are a full day of a selected sport. Students compete against students from other district in a series of games. Sport include Term 2: Netball, Cricket, Rugby League, Soccer, Basketball and Ultimate Freesbie. Term 3: T-ball, Cricket, League tag (boys and girls), AFL, and Basketball.  When organising teams we endeavour to place students in the sport of their first preference, however if there are too many or not enough number to make team we encourage students to select other sports.
Awards - At the end of each year we award a male and female representative sports person of the year based on points accrued from representative sport. There is also a PE award for each level based on effort and excellence in PE and sport.
