All students at Kurwongbah State School are provided with the opportunity to engage in appropriate water safety and learn to swim programs. This document outlines departmental policy and proposed dates for swimming programs.

At Kurwongbah State School swimming is considered a pastoral care activity and falls under the health and wellbeing framework. This program is not part of the delivery of the Australian Curriculum and is not assessed as part of the Health and Physical Education key learning area. Instead, swimming lessons and water safety are offered to promote health and wellbeing, just as camps, incursions and excursions support the development of the child and supplement the curriculum.

Registered swimming instructors, who follow the WSSEP guidelines outlined in this document, deliver our swimming programs.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in our swimming carnival in Term

Four.
